Day 3 (May 18th) : Great wall

3rd Day

On the third day, we went to the Great wall, Bird's nest, and night bar.  After the breakfast, we headed over to the Great wall.  By the bus, it took about 40 ~ 50 minutes to get to the Great wall.  the picture on top is the picture of the Great wall that I took on the bus.

When we arrived, we could see the magnificent view of the Great wall.  After purchasing the ticket, we went into the starting point of the Great wall.  Through the entrance, we started to climb.  The picture on top is the picture of the entrance and first step towards climbing the great wall.

We climbed the Great wall together with the Aggie flag.  First, we thought it was going to be a quick exercise to the great wall.  However, the stairs were irregular and very steep.  Therefore, it took us way more time than we thought it would.  However, after we reached the top, it all went away and we felt satisfied the fact we made it.  After taking a picture of me at the top, we safely came down and spent some time in the shop.  Of the entire China trip, I think it was one of the most hardest but rewarding experience.

After climbing the great wall, we visited Birds nest and Olympic park.  After 30 minutes of bus ride, we arrived in Bird’s nest stadium and Olympic park.  The bird’s nest was magnificent.  It was so big that I could not take a whole picture of it.  Unfortunately, we haven’t been to inside of the stadium.  However, even from outside, we were amazed by its size and design.  Also, at the time, IAAF world championship was held.  So there were many people around area of bird’s nest and Olympic park.

After the short visit to Bird’s nest and Olympic park, we went to a hot pot restaurant.  We ordered lamb, pork, beef, and a variety of vegetables to eat.  It was different from the usual hot pot in that broth and sauce were different.  The broth was clean.  So the taste was simple and clean.  Also, the sauce was peanut based sauce.  So, the taste was totally different, at the same time similar.  Thus it was a very interesting dinner.

Lastly, we took a tour around Night Street and decided to go into a bar to experience and enjoy night life of Beijing.  When we walked along the street, the street was very lively.  There were performances and street itself was covered with different lights.  Enjoying the night life, we went into a live bar.  We enjoyed the live music sang by two musicians and that concluded the end of the day.
